Colombia Connect was launched in February 2021, primarily to establish a permanent research and innovation network between Colombia and Germany with a view to the fair and sustainable use of biological resources in a post-conflict society. Research in biodiversity, bioeconomy and peacebuilding will be cross-cutting themes across the projects and initiatives run by the network.
In addition to CAPAZ, the Colombia Connect network includes the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Biological Resources Research, the Corporation Centre of Excellence in Marine Sciences – CEMarin and the Justus Liebig University Giessen. The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF).
