The Commission for the Clarification of the Truth (CEV) must include the gender perspective in its work and recognize territorial specificities. Since its inception, the CEV has faced budget cuts that hinder its work in this regard. This project seeks to contribute with specialized knowledge about Montes de María, which is characterized as a region plagued by armed conflict and where there is a high number of female victims. The project aims to develop recommendations for the Truth Commission on the inclusion of the gender perspective in its implementation, focusing on the Montes de María sub-region, where the ethnic diversity of the female victims and their significant organizational processes offers an adequate field of study.
Specific objectives
– Analyse the incorporation of the gender perspective in the implementation process of the Truth Commission in Montes de Maria during the months of October to December 2019.
– Examine how gender mainstreaming in the Truth Commission dialogues with other approaches such as the differentials included in its mandate (ethnic, disability and life course) and with the territorial and psycho-social approaches.
– Investigate the potential and limitations of transitional justice to contribute to the restoration of women’s rights and well-being
